How to read the numbers from my driver's license, right beside my picture?

I was told that those numbers shows the date I obtained my driver's license. Is it true? And if it is, how can you tell?

Well, no one can help you if you don't specify the state at least, and the type/category of license.

Maybe within a state/category, the licesnse # are assigned in order (they need to be unique, so just ocunting them off would work for that right?).

If that is the case, then you need a list of what range numbers were assigned on each date, then find the date that your number falls into.

But there are plenty of other ways to make sure the number is unique, and your driving record already reflects the date your license was issued (and renewed, which doesn't change the number!), so it is not really necessary to encode the issue date in the number if sharing the date is all that matters.
