There are seven numbers on the signature strip on the back of my card, why do people only want the last three?What are the first FOUR numbers for on the CVV on a credit card?

Some banks will have you read all the numbers to ensure you have the card with you if it is an added security feature.

why dont you ask the people that ask you for the last 3 digits why they want them





For security reasons, I'd guess.
The 3 are the ';signature code';





The other four, I'd guess are either the first four,last four, or expiration date on your card.

They just need the last three digits to verify the entire number. The chances are that if you have the last three digits you have them all, so they don't bother asking for them. Only the bank used the whole number, I think it's for fraud prevention.
The first part of the number is the same as your credit card number, which they already have.
