How do I add two numbers with exponents?

I know when you multiply something like x^3 times x^4 you get x^7, but wha if you're adding x^3 + x^4?How do I add two numbers with exponents?
the exponents take precedence over the addition due to the order of operations.

x^3 + x^4 = x^3 + x^4 it doesn't simplify.

x^3 + x^3 = 2x^3

2x^4+ 8x^4 = 10x^4

make sense? How do I add two numbers with exponents?
u go like this

written out:

x^3 + x^4

-x + -x

-------------- you get rid of x and u have just ^3 + ^4

^3 + ^4 = ^7

so x = ^7

im pretty sure thats it
x^4+x^3
