I'm doing a research based essay, and I'm having trouble decifing the actual numbers provided. For example, the army has a recruiting goal of about 80,000 every year, that it claims to meet. So does that mean that 80,000 people go to basic training every year, or does it mean that 80,000 people PASS basic training/ait and actually join the ranks of the enlisted. Also, what is the amount of people that LEAVE the army every year. I have yet to find a comprehensive website, or any website that answers these questions, so any help is apprieciated.What are the actual numbers for army recruitment/retention?
The recruitment numbers are for the number of people enlisted. The recruitment goals are the sum of the number of people needed to graduate training plus the expected attrition. (If the Army needs 1,000 soldiers and expects 5% to fail training - they will recruit 1,050 soldiers.)
The military services are having higher than programmed re-enlistments. The re-enlistment rate is particularly high among those who have served in Iraq.
