I'm from Canada, so I don't know much about zip codes. I want to mail something to the US and from what I thought, zip codes have 5 numbers, but when I looked up my friend's address, it has the 5 numbers then a dash and 4 numbers. What are the 4 numbers? Do I need to write them or just the beginning 5?What are the 4 numbers at the end of a zip code?
Its to narrow it down to a particular region. It helps the mail sorters sort the mail easier.
Its not really necessary to write it, but I'm sure the post office will thank you if you write it on there. What are the 4 numbers at the end of a zip code?
Not that I know for sure, but the zip gets it to the right city (or part of the city), and the +4 gets it to the right individual mailman, so maybe it get there faster.
you don't need them - just use the first 5 - the last numbers are more specific and they tell you if you use them that it might help your mail arrive faster...doubt it
