I have 500 consecutive numbers which one could be drawn in a raffle. I need to display these numbers in an Excel sheet (let's say 60,000-60,500) so that if my number is chosen I can search the database very quickly to see if my number pops up (let's say 60,402). How do I get the Excel program to generate these numbers in a consecutive series so that I do not have to type 500 numbers in the program? Can someone tell me the steps in doing this? How can I get Microsoft Excel to automatically display 500 consecutive numbers?
All that you have to do is type the first number in a cell, go to the next row down, type the next number. Then click on the first number with your mouse, while depressing the left side of the mouse, drag your cursor over the second number. Once both cells are highlighted, move your cursor to the bottom right of the second cell. Your cursor will then appear as a thin ';cross';, while depressing the left side of your mouse, drag the thin ';cross'; downward, you will see the numbers start to appear consecutively. Simply let go of the mouse when you reach the desired number. How can I get Microsoft Excel to automatically display 500 consecutive numbers?
In the first cell, wherever you want to start, put the first number in the sequence.
Then click down into the next cell below.
Then type: =
Then click on the cell above
then type +1
Then hit enter.
Now drag that second cell downward till you have all the numbers you want.
If you run out of room, do the same thing in another column till you are all set.
