Is it possible to have two numbers connected to the one mobile phone?

Like can you lock one number off to stop some calls and activate another number for other calls you want to receive. Is it possible to have two numbers connected to the one mobile phone?
It is not possible to have two phone numbers on a sim card. Only one number can be assigned to one sim card.

If you need an additional number, then that would mean another contract.... unless its prepaid. But you CAN have 2 different sim card, and change them in the phone whenever you want.Is it possible to have two numbers connected to the one mobile phone?

Outlaw_biker53 truly has the better method if you need to figure it out quicker, for example, for a standardized test or something. Report Abuse

an easy way to look at it. multiply the 4 by 100. you now have 400/9 which equals 44.444 or 44 4/9. now since you multiplied at the beginning, you need to divide by 100 now resulting in 0.444. the way it would look on paper when doing it really would be 4.00 / 9
use a calculator
o write out the question 9/4 and then you divide it 9/4=0 so then you add a deciaaml 9/4=0.444
normally it would be left as a fraction .

4/9 .

How do I block specific phone numbers off my home phone?

There are these telemarketers that keep calling every few minutes and even when I pick up the phone they still call back later.

I need to get rid of them. How do I block specific phone numbers off my home phone?
call your phone company and see if they can put a block on the numbers you want. Otherwise, register for the donotcall.gov list. But remember, it doesn't stop religious groups or policiticans.

Another thing that works is if you tell them to stop calling and get the name and time you've called. If they keep calling, report them to donotcall.gov and they can be prosecuted. How do I block specific phone numbers off my home phone?
add your phone to the do not call registery. you can find the website on google
tell ur phone company the #s and they will block it for u
you can ask them to put you on the do not call list. if they do call you back after being placed on the do not call list - then you can actually sue them.

How do I clean the embedded numbers on my credit/debit card?

Ok if it ain't the little metalic strip thing and it just appears to have something on top of it and hasn't appeared to have worn off go out to sears or lowes or walmart and get a hand cleaner called goop you can also get carborator cleaner but that'll take anything off including skin. but they make a hand cleaner called goop that will do just fine at taking it off. put some on your finger and rub the card with your finger for a while and it should come off. and if you insist take the carb cleaner to it...MAKE SURE YOU USE A RAG. if you have any cuts on your fingers it burns like a mother ******. good luck.

What do you call the numbers in the question of a subtraction problem?

For example in 2+3=5 the addends are 2 and 3

What would you call 6 and 1 in 6-1=5What do you call the numbers in the question of a subtraction problem?
Subtraction is the operation of taking the difference d = x - y of two numbers x and y. Here, x is called the minuend, y is called the subtrahend, and the symbol between the x and y is called the minus sign. The expression ';x - y'; is read

    '; x minus y.';

    So in your expression, 6 - 1 = 5,

    6 is the minuend

    1 is the subtrahend

    5 is the difference

Box 1 is that wages, tips, and other compensation box and box 16 is the state wages, tips, etc. I was paid hourly with no bonuses or tips so I dont understand why they are 2 different numbers. I also only work at one location for this company.Box 1 and Box 16 of one of my w2 have different numbers is that ok?
Your federal wages will almost always differ from your state wages, since there are deductions that reduce your federal wages but do not reduce your state wages.

Examples, depending upon your state, of these deductions include some medical/dental deductions and contributions to qualified retirement accounts such as a 401 (k) that are taken directly off the top of your paycheck. Usually, these deductions are not allowed or counted by the state, so the state wages tend to be higher than the federal wages.Box 1 and Box 16 of one of my w2 have different numbers is that ok?
yes i tink it is okay
It's not unusual. If you have any kind of pre-tax deductions from your wages, they are often still taxable by the state but just not the feds. Examples might be 401K contributions, or medical insurance premiums.
    Yes it is okay,

Did you have any benefits like health insurance, or did you purchase company t-shirts, that may have been deducted from your pay. This may be the reason why there is a difference. Was there an employee stock plan, where you could purchase stock, or medical savings.

If this does not answer your questions. Ask your employer, they will most likely give you the phone number to their accountants office who prepared them, or they will find out them selves why there is a difference. I beileve they are required to tell you why there is a difference. But it is usually perfectly normal.

    Good Luck. Hope that helped.
Your company is trying to shelter money using you as the patsy so you need to call the IRS immediately and report them.

If I open a Swiss numbered bank account can a large finance company in the United States track down that?

account and reposses those funds (i.e.) take the funds away from me for payment? If I open a Swiss numbered bank account can a large finance company in the United States track down that?
I don't know about a Swiss bank account, but I do have some knowledge of how off shore accounts in places such as the Cayman Islands work.

You can open these accounts, but they require a lot more verification then a US account. Here you can give your drivers license and SSN and get and account. In the Caymans you needed your passport, letters from a US banker who has known you for at least 2 years, and accountant and then some personal references.

Then the only person that can get information about your account would be the federal government, if they can show that the account is being used to hide money from illegal activities or laundering money. If I open a Swiss numbered bank account can a large finance company in the United States track down that?
I tend to disagree with the first poster. Some swiss accounts can be opened using only an account number, having no names associated with the account itself.

These accounts are usually expensive to open, requiring large deposit amounts, and some must be opened in person, making them difficult to acquire.

A separate solution would be to open an account in the name of a spouse or child and keep your money there.
Don't be so illegal! Pay your debts and you will feel so much better!
you can't just open up an account without a name...its not like the movies where you can just go to the bank get a number and leave.

Any way to transfer phone numbers from one cell phone to another?

Hi, I was wondering if there is any way to transfer your phone numbers and settings stored on one cell phone to a new cell phone that I had just purchased without having to re-type in all of them over again?Any way to transfer phone numbers from one cell phone to another?
    There are many ways.

Save all your contact numbers in the SIM Card Memory. So when you transfer you sim Card to the new phone all you have to do is copy the sim card contact numbers to you phone memory. By the way some phones doesn' t require that. They access both sim card memory or you can set which memory to use.

Transfer by bluetooth, infrared also works of course you have to find a temporary sim card for the one the phones.

Download all your contact number from phone to pc via cable connection and do the reverse on the new phone.

Some providers allow you space to save contact numbers and retrieve them via menu services in the sim is also worth looking into.

Its expensive but would also work if you also have a new subscription/number and new sim send your contacts number via sms.Any way to transfer phone numbers from one cell phone to another?
    What phone do you have?

Some allow contacts to be sent by bluetooth or infra red.

If you can't do that then try saving your contacts onto ur sim card.

Maybe get a data cable and transfer your list onto your computer.
There are a lot of ways... One which is very convenient and simple is copy all contacts to the sim card and insert the sim in the new phone and copy the contacts to the phone.. Hope this helped
Yes. Don't know what cellular carrier you use but Verizon and Cingular can port saved information from one phone to another. You can go to go to a service center and have it done. They will transfer the info from the old phone to their computer and then from the computer to the old phone. There is usally a charge of around $10. I would think any cellular provider would be able to do this.

There are also connection devices you can by for some phones. People I've heard from have had various degrees of success with these.

  • How do i type little numbers in the top right corner at the end of words?

I don't know if i will explain this right, but i need to put in a little number after the word i have just typed and then i will put the same number at the bottom of the page and the description of the word. I need the numebrs to go up to 12. I am using Arial font on Microsoft Word.

Thanks for the help! How do i type little numbers in the top right corner at the end of words?
Go to Insert, then scroll down to reference, then scrollover to footnote. How do i type little numbers in the top right corner at the end of words?
    ur referring to footnotes

in MS Word, place the cursor next to the word

Insert %26gt; Footnote (this is for Office 2000)

if u get a dialog box, just click Yes/OK or whatever comes!

now, u can type the text of ur footnote

u can have any no of footnotes in a page: 12 is nothing!

Press F1 in Word for more --- BEST OPTION
Click on ';Insert'; at the top of your screen. (Press Alt+I in case you cannot see it.) Click on ';reference'; and then on ';footnotes';.
when your in the word program go to view on the menu bar and get the header and footer and insert what you like
Here's how to put the number in, when you just need a number.

But, to do ';footnotes';, my best advice to you is to go to the Help menu in Microsoft, and type in Insert a Footnote. When that page shows, click on Show all up in the top right corner. You need the first part of that explanation. You might ask your teacher if you can do endnotes instead of footnotes because they are all together at the end (duh!) and not so distracting.

For a number though, put your curser where you want the number to go. Go up to the top of the screen while you are in Word. Open Format. Then click on Font. Where it says Effects, click on Superscript for the number that goes at the top right of a letter. Then click OK. Put in whatever number you want. Now, this part is boring. To get back to regular sized letters and numbers, you have to ';unselect'; that Superscript box that you checked.

You can also click on Subscript for the little number that goes at the bottom right, like water appears when it's H2O and looks neater than that!

After you finish your homework, play around with some of those other ';effects';. One of my favorites is ';small caps'; because it can be used for emphasis and is easier to read than italics. Don't use anything though unless your teacher says it's OK as one of the things you're learning is ';style';.

You might want to look at Insert and then Symbol for some other nifty things.

    Have fun. Good luck.

Who is aware that energy and food is NOT factored into inflation numbers released to the public?

Just think, the very things Americans use far more than anything else are NOT included in the numbers when inflation reports are released.

I just paid $87 for what used to be $65 worth of groceries.

Have energy and food costs risen noticeably in your area?Who is aware that energy and food is NOT factored into inflation numbers released to the public?
even statistics have become politicized under the bush administration. some economists are saying that unemployment is a lot closer to 10 percent right now. and yes, it's getting much more expensive to buy essentials. too bad we all can't just vote ourselves raises like they do in congress.Who is aware that energy and food is NOT factored into inflation numbers released to the public?
    Mr. Chi,

Isn't that great. Btw...I like your hair cut.

Anyway, think it is worth a note that we should get off this ethanol thingy...

it is ripping my land off of precious Corn..and causing prices in to go up in corn syrup and cattle feed.

Also as a new Democrat we need to be more responsible of going to places like Costco and living within our means.

I mean do we all need Ipods?

    Thanks Mr. Chi.

    I'm a new Party Member.
I knew. It's a scam to underestimate the extent of inflation, the same applies to unemployment figures, where persons not looking for work are not included in the calculations
    Both.

But here is the cons response:

Dems won't let us drill here. (even though ANWR has 7 years of oil at 5% consumption and would take 10 years to build any capacity)

And Dems caused the food crisis. (Ignoring E-85 was a Bush initiative and Al Gore came out against corned base ehtanol 3 years ago.)
They used to be - and that's what makes any comparison to past inflation rates with the alleged present inflation rates absolutely meaningless.
I was not. Food cost have risen dramatically. Gasoline dramatically. My natural gas bill dramatically.
    I've heard this before...

it would explain how inflation is still ';so low';... when it's pretty big on everything I buy...
me......... that is how the Bush Administration is able to tell you that inflation was only one tenth of one percent last month.
That's ODD ... the news always blames the cost of food and fuel on the rising inflation numbers. Odd that they don't even apply. I hadn't ever heard that. They always seem to CLAIM that they are included. Sneaky petes!

I have been shopping for prices and what I

USED To spend was about $120. I found Food 4 Less and got it down to about $98. Then I found Trader Joes and got it down to about $70. And then I found this local grocery that was competing with the 99c store and my last grocery bill for EVERYTHING (slabs of thick sliced bacon, rib sandwiches, crabmeat, turkey ham, bread, milk, canned baked beans, soda, chips, ice cream, braunsweiger, albacore, roast beef in a can (awesome on a bed of rice), green salad olives, yogurt, and hanburger, plus a few misc things for just $61. I was thrilled! Plus I go to the 99c store that has a deli and I get Stouffer's Panini's for 99c and Souffer's Flat Bread with steak for 99c. Big bags of peppers for 99c. i even get dog treats for 99c. Plus they have 3 liter colas for the kids for 99c. Also, apricots and raisins in a box. I like to eat but really can't afford it much anymore. But I have learned to find the best deals. Eggs at the regular stores are $2.39 a dozen but at Trader Joe's they are $1.49. Also, hamburger is $2.49 /lb. And I can still find killer deals on enchiladas and burritos and Alaskan Cod, and on and on.

You just gotta look around! The deals are out there ... you just have to look a LOT harder to find them. I'm going to have a crabmeat salad for dinner tonight. The lettuce was 99c and the salad dressing was 99c.

I used to spend about $500 / month on food when my kid lived with me and now I spend about $100/month and I still buy almost all the same stuff. But now I have to share the left overs with the dog so I don't pudge out and get fatter!

My energy bill is $1 / month b/c I installed a solar system about 3 years ago. I sell solar systems too if you need one! But for the last 3 months by bill was 84c, $1.19, and $1.21. This month it will be higher b/c I have to turn the A/C on about 3 - 5 times per day, but I regulate it and I let the house go to 85F before I kick on the A/C and drop it to 74F. The house is insulated and I installed dual pane Anlin windows at the same time I did the solar ( I sell the windows too). My house used to need the A/C about every 15-25 minutes before but now I flip it on about every three hours or more. Today I put it on this morning and then this afternoon about 3pm and I just turned it on now at 9:30pm. It's still 90F outside but inside it's 75.

But I noticed that at the main stream grocery stores like Von's and Stater's the prices are going NUTZ! Hamburger is $4 / lb almost. Bacon is $10 for the slab I just paid $5.99 at Save-a-lot. And it's probably higher than $10 now since it was about a year ago that it was $10.

I used to pay $2.00 for Rockstar energy drinks and now I buy an off brand for 50c. Chips that were $3 I got to $1.50 at Food 4 Less and NOW I pay 99c at SAVE-a-lot!

I here that Big Lots! has CArslberg Elephant Malt that used to cost $2 a can for $1 /can. I have to check them out next. Maybe I can shave a little more off.

I used to shop whenever I needed to but now I do it when I'm working and passing the grocery store. I no longer pay the fuel since my customers pay me to install their sign posts and they pay for the fuel.

I'm learning to economize as we ALL are! We HAVE TO in order to survive!

    :-)

    Peace out ... Frugal Ones!

Organisms need the same number of chromosomes to produce FERTILE offspring. How can donkeys and horses successfully breed together if they have different numbers of chromosomes?
Does not make a difference if the horse is a hinez57 or purebred. Report Abuse

They can produce offspring with different amounts of chromosomes but the offspring will almost always be sterile. Mules and hinnies can only usually be produced by breeding horses and donkeys together, not through intraspecial breeding. Occasionally a female mule can have a foal if sired by a pure blood horse or donkey but the fact that mules only have 63 chromosomes makes the pairing of chromosomes exceedingly difficult and therefore such occasions are very rare. Horses have 64 chromosomes whilst donkeys have only 62. This means that the chromosomes can pair off but one pair comes from the horse not from both parents, usually resulting in sterility.
Ignore the person who said they have the same number of chromosomes. Horses have 64 pair and the donkey 62. After meoisis and during fertilisation, 2 of the chromosomes from the horse combine producing a mule with 63 pair. The mules are sterile. its interesting to note that plant hybrids that are sterile are also called mules in plant circles.

It is also possible to cross donkeys with zebras and these are called zonkeys! cool hey.
    isn't life grand?

you're getting into semantics by saying ';breed';. they can mate successfully to produce offspring but the offspring are not fit (well, except for the rare fertile mule...) because mules sex cells rarely divide to an appropriate haploid number to pair up with another sex cell.

i don't know much about the genetics, but i would think that sometimes some chromosomes can function without a pair (like X chromes in females where one is inactivated and females are fine with the one X running the show) so that's why mules exist. oh great...did i just say a woman is like a mule =\
The have the same number of chromosomes. Especially with reptiles, many breeds can interbreed, even with different numbers of chromosomes. These hybrids are sometimes able to have offspring themselves.
They don't successfully breed. Their offspring (mules) are not reproductively viable (they are sterile).
    Look up ';Allopolyploid';
No, but their offspring is unable to reproduce. I don't really know how it works.
they ar'nt that successful, after all they do make an a.s.s of it...

    LOL.
yes they can they produce a mule.

    but the mule cant reproduce

Paintings are not signed and numbered. What you have is a print of some kind. Hopefully an original print like an etching or lithograph, which could be worth something, and not a photographic reproduction, which would pretty much be worthless no matter who signed and numbered it.

A quick online search for Ezequiel Torrella turned up nothing. Sorry.

How does one prove that the arithmetic operations extend into the complex numbers?

    Early in the last century Bertrand Russell and Alfred North Whitehead set out to ';prove'; the basis of mathematics using formal logic. After about 350-some pages, they'd proven that 1 + 1 = 2. Maybe you should have a lot of paper handy before you attempt your ';proof.';

Take a look at the DEC2HEX function:

  • What is the limit of numbers of pictures can I send in an email. The pictures are 4x5 and 200 dpi each?

My Daughter in law wants to see all of our pix and we have a few hundred. I there a rule of thumb? What is the limit of numbers of pictures can I send in an email. The pictures are 4x5 and 200 dpi each?
the limit would be the total size of the attachment itself and that limit depends on your email provider. For instance, Yahoo Mail limit attachment up to 10 MB.What is the limit of numbers of pictures can I send in an email. The pictures are 4x5 and 200 dpi each?
This depends on your email provider and how much they will allow for attachments. Typically, most email providers allow for 10MB per attachment, some more and some less. If you know how large the files are (and they should be in kb), you should be able to send quite a few at one time.

    Rule of thumb, 1024kb = 1MB
Usually email attachments are made to be 72 dpI because most monitors can only resolve 72 and in the cases of some high-end monitors 92 (rare and very expensive).

200 DPI and higher are files that can be used to make photographic prints and if such a file is later needed by your daughter, you can send the the specific image files with the higher resolution.

Be sure you save the smaller files as some other name and not overwrite your original files. There is a good way to do this. Burn a CD of all your original images as a back up so if you do accidental over write an original, you have an original file available.

Some photo programs allow batch actions on groups of files, so you don't have to individually re-size each image file.

Can I pay a merchant without them finding out my credit card numbers?

This is to avoid any other charges in the future. Can I pay a merchant without them finding out my credit card numbers?
    Go with Paypall

www.paypal.comCan I pay a merchant without them finding out my credit card numbers?
Paypal is a very good alternative although not many online vendors accept them unlike credit cards. Another good alternative is the prepaid credit cards. Report Abuse

Citibank cards have a feature where it generates a credit card number that is good for a one-time purchase. Check with your credit card and see if they have that option.
use a cashiers check, paypal or a prepaid credit card.

I doubt that a merchant will charge your card in the future though. If its a credit card company or something big they wouldnt want to lose their multi-million dollar company over something petty like that.

If this merchant is a creditor...dont even bother cause if the seen a copy of your credit report they already know your account numbers, etc.

    Good Luck
Some credit card companies now allow you to generate one time use numbers for just that purpose. If your card does not allow this, see if they accept PayPal or some other form of payment.

What do the eyetest prescription numbers mean?

The higher the number, the worse you're eyesight is.What do the eyetest prescription numbers mean?
the strength of the lensWhat do the eyetest prescription numbers mean?
My eyesight is 20/60.20 is good,60 means i am nearsighted.
Example my RX R. +2.00ds -2.25cyl axis 90 6/6 Okay I'll try to explain that. +2.00ds the long sighted component -2.25cyl the astigmatic component. Axis the axis of the cylindrical component 6/6, 20/20 vision. Wish I could do you a diagram. Much easier to explain that way. Optician.
it means how far can you see from a distance and how close your vision can bring the object to your view
It could be the logMAR measurement, some opticians use this rather than the traditional Snellen measurement.

20/20 is the same as 6/6 (we use 6/6 in the UK because we are metric, 20/20 refers to feet- old fashioned!)

Snellen measurements will give you a measurement of your vision in 6/6 terms.

You have not specified what this reading is. A prescription has the strength of glasses you require (even if this figure is zero), that will look like:

    +1.00/-0.25x10 (plus means long sighted)

    or

    -1.00/-0.25x10 (minus means short sighted)

Then you will have a section that says what your visual acuity is. Visual Acuity (VA) is your vision with help (specs or contact lenses) (vision is your vision without help)

Your VA is traditionally written as 6/6 or 6/12 (the bottom number is the level of your vision, the higher the number, the poorer your eyesight.

Without knowing where you have extracted the 2.4 from it is difficult to be exact but, as I said, it may just be the level of your vision written in an alternative way

    Hope that's a help
is this like the 20/20 number?

i think the first is the lens strength of a relaxed eyeball, and the second is how far it can focus beyond it's normal state.

i've only had one eye test since school, and i was 20/24, which i gather is good...

Why do computers represent data using binary numbering?

Because the underlying devices used to represent the data are two-state devices: on or off. Vacuum tubes, transistors, magnetic toruses, magnetic disks, optical disks, are some of those devices. For all of them, it's most convenient and reliable to store information in arrays of on-or-off states. Why do computers represent data using binary numbering?
Communication within the computer is via on/off wires/signals. The 1s and 0s are merely representions of those on/off signals. Why do computers represent data using binary numbering?
Because computers all operate using a type of transistor called a flip-flop. These flip-flops have two positions which we label as on and off or 1 and 0 which is the same system that binary use. A single microchip can have billions of flip-flops built into it and that is how data is stored, by positioning these flip-flops in the 1 or 0 position.

To make binary much more useful computer us opamps and later other type of transistors to channel the binary code using boolean logic to do more advanced math calculations.

Just as a fun fact Binary was invented in India around 800 BC. Boolean logic wasn't invented until the 1890's in England.
Because it makes the circutry simpler and more reliable. You have either an off or an on--anything in between has to be one or the other. The more space between valid answers the easier it is to deal with interference.

Not if we can add digits. If we can; we will not run out until we reach infinity.
we have 9 digits to play with and if you multiply that by 9 you get 99999999899000000001. combinations. So I won't see it in my life time and neither will you.
I wouldn't worry about that. I would be more worried about when we will run out of social security dollars. Because that is going to come long before we run out of the numbers. . .
That will be the least of our worries in view of what's coming next!...

**edited for legibility and sensibiltyWhat do the first 3 numbers in your social security number mean?
The first three are the area number, they indicate the state where you first applied for the card.
I don't know much about the answer...but the last entry...DUJU...I do know that my first three number do not follow that state guideline...I have lived in Indiana all my life and my frist three numbers are not listed within the numbers you found.
It has something to do with where you were born.
you might check the social security website:

    http://www.ssa.gov/
They signify the place you first applied for your Social Security Card.
    they mean absolutely nothing
I would assume that it is State generated. Not sure why you would want to know unless you aren't sure where you were born.
it used to be that way---btu with so much identity theft and so on..i doubt thats the case any longer
They're a significant precursor to the next 2 digits
Its based on the state where you apply.

    Example Vermont is 008/009
The first three number identifies the state of issuance of the SSN
it does have to do with the state. you can find them here at www.mrfa.org/ssn.htm.

What is the best way to look up phone numbers and cell numbers to research who owns them?

Best way to find who owns the phone/cell numbers? What is the best way to look up phone numbers and cell numbers to research who owns them?
Well, it depends how you want to go about it... as in the quick and easy way by paying a small fee or spending a lot of time trying to track down the person for free with search engines and social networks and stuff.

You could try searching Google and places like MySpace and Craigslist to see if the person put their cell number and other info up there for everyone to see. This doesn't happen too often but it's possible. This is really the only way to find out who it is for free.

Free reverse cell phone directories just aren't possible because of the short life span of cell phone numbers and privacy laws. But there are some services that pay cellular providers for all their records, and spend a lot of money and effort compiling them all into a searchable database that is fully up-to-date. That way they can offer the records to the public for a small fee.

I use one at http://www.cellphonereverselookup.info for doing background checks and stuff for my business. It gives me unlimited searches so it's pretty handy. You can do a free preliminary look up there to see if they have the records of your unknown cell number.

You can get the full membership that gives you unlimited searches, or pay about $15 for just a one-time lookup. Hope that helps...

How do I convert exponential numbers to scientific notation?

Okay, let's say I want to know the probability of a randomly shuffled deck of cards returning to its original suit/number order. The odds are 52 to the 52nd power. If I wanted to express this as ';scientific notation'; I would convert it to 10 to the ?? power.

    How is this done?

I could go to my computer's calculator and press 52 X 52 times and come up with the number, but I'd like to know the ';right'; way.How do I convert exponential numbers to scientific notation?
52^52 = 1.706765553 x 10^89. If your calculator has an x^y button, you can use that to put in 52^52. And because it's a big number as it is, it should display it in scientific notation.

Converting anything to scientific notation involves moving the decimal point in any number enough so that the number itself becomes between 1 and 10. So for a number like 323.42332, you'd move the decimal twice to the left, making it 3.2342332. The 10 part comes from how you moved the decimal - left is positive and right is negative. In our case we moved it left twice, making the 10 part a 2. So 323.42332 = 3.2342332 x 10^2.How do I convert exponential numbers to scientific notation?
Type 52^52 into your calculator, rather than multiplying 52 times, but other than that there's no ';right'; way. The only way to 'convert' to scientific notation is to solve it and write the solution in scientific notation.
    you don't have to do 52 * 52 * 52 * 52 * ..., you can just go to your calculator, press 52 then press x^y then press 52, then click enter, and you get 1.7067655527...e89 or about 1.71 * 10^89. That ';e89'; just means exponent 89 or 10^89.
Change the original 52 to 5.2x10 then since 10 is the same as 10^1 and multiplying with same base, add the exponents so it becomes 5.2 x 10 to the 53rd. 10^1 x 10^52= 10^1+52=10^53
Evaluating the number is essentially the right way to convert from an exponential to scientific notation.

Of course, hitting multiply 52 times isn't really the way to go. In the Windows calculator, change the view to Scientific. Then, you can use the x^y function, so you could type ';52y52'; and get the same number.
i'd suggest you operate 52^52 and get the first two numbers like 1.7 x 10^89. that's about the shortest way i could find it.
Go to Google and use the ^ sign for exponents. If you wanted to know ten squared, use 10^2. If you needed ten cubed, use 10^3. etc

How can I make a stem and leaf plot with very widespread numbers?

I have to make a stem and leaf plot for the average precipitation (in mm), and my numbers are very far apart.

    Numbers: 20.5, 9.5, 15.3, 29.7, 123, 262, 423, 421, 353, 197, 135, 65.3

Thanks for helping! How can I make a stem and leaf plot with very widespread numbers?
I would personally separate your numbers based on their hundred value, because anything smaller will result in 40+ lines, many with no statistics in them. So, for example, I would do this:

    Stem I Leaf

    _____I

0____I 09.5 (put in the zero to indicate zero in the ten column,

    _____I just to beconsistent.), 15.3, 20.5, 29.7, 65.3

1____I 23.0 (use the decimal system once again, just to be

    _____I consistent), 35.0, 97.0

    2____I 62.0

    3____I 53.0

    4____I 21.0, 23.0

    Hope that helps! Good Luck!

How do I add a random number to a list of consecutive numbers in Excel?

I have a list of numbers (barcodes) that I want to add a random number (0-9) to the end of each one. It is a 12 digit number but I want the last and 13th digit to be a random number between 0 and 9. The list goes from A-1 through A-10000 and I just can't figure out how to add the last random digit. I use Excel 2007. THANK YOU!How do I add a random number to a list of consecutive numbers in Excel?
    Put this formula in B1

    =A1%26amp;RANDBETWEEN(0,9)

Copy B1 and paste it in B2:B1000

This will put a random number (0 to 9) at the end of your 12 digit numbers from column A. You will get a new random number any time the sheet does a calculation or you hit the F9 key. If you want a random number but then you don't want it to generate new random numbers when the sheet calculates, copy colunm B and Paste Special Values to a new column.

How do you express rational numbers in decimals?

I have no clue on how to express rational numbers into decimals. That's all. Just wondering. Might come in handy someday. =DHow do you express rational numbers in decimals?
a rational number can be expressed as a fraction. 3/4 is 3/4 and that is 0.75. so just divide like that. 1/2 is 1 divided by 2 and that is 0.5

another way is to make the denominator 100.

say 3/10. multiply both top and bottom by 10 to get 30/100, which is 0.3 or 30%How do you express rational numbers in decimals?
Divide the numerator by the denominator.
    3/4=0.75

Why are the perfect squares generatable by adding a succession of odd numbers?

0 is a perfect square. Add the first odd number to get 1. Add the next odd number to 1 and get 4. Add the next odd number to 4 and get 9.

Why does this work? What do odd numbers have to do with perfect squares? Why are the perfect squares generatable by adding a succession of odd numbers?
    Two ways to see this:

    Here is a formal proof:

The sum S of the first n odd numbers is

    S = 1 + 3 + 5 + ......+(2n-5) + (2n-3) + (2n-1)

    (for example, if n = 4, then S = 1 + 3 + 5 + 7, where 7 = 2(4) - 1)

Now we can rewrite this as

    S = (2n-1) + (2n - 3) + (2n - 5 ) + .....+ 5 + 3 + 1

Add the two expressions together and you get

    2S = [1+ 2n -1] + [ 3 + 2n - 3] + [ 5 + 2n - 5 ] + ....+ [2n -1 + 1]

    2S = 2n + 2n + 2n + .....+ 2n (there are n terms)

    S = n + n + n + ......n ( there are n terms)

    = n*n= n^2.

    -----------------

Here is an intuitive geometric argument.

    Draw squares with dots:

    *

    **

    **

    ***

    ***

    ***

    for 1, 4, 9, etc.

now draw demarcations in the shape of inverted L's, to see each of these squares in ';layers';. For example, the last square, 9, can be thought of as an outer layer of 5 dots (across the top and right side) plus an inner 2x2 square which can be thought of as an outer layer of 3 dots, plus an inner single dot. 9 = 5 + 3 + 1.

and so on with the larger squares. Why are the perfect squares generatable by adding a succession of odd numbers?
    Summations:

    1+3+5+7+9...2n-1=(n)^2

    So if n=4:

    1+3+5+7=(4)^2=16

And to test this always works:

    1+3+5+7...2n-1=n^2

    Take the next term:

    1+3+5+7...+(2n-1)+

    (2n+1)=(n^2)+(2n+1)

    And because:

    (n^2)+(2n+1)=

    (n+1)^2

You know that it is always a perfect square.

(This is a discrete mathematics problem)

I bought a new Motorola cell phone and want to port contact and apointment book info from the old Motorola to the new one without manually entry. How do I port contact numbers from my old cell phone to the new one?
either you can put them on a memory card then transfer or they should ideally have been transferred from your phone to the sim card and would automatically have been in your new phone when activatedHow do I port contact numbers from my old cell phone to the new one?
you don't port your contact list, you copy them from your old phone. unless you use a service like sprint has in which yhour contact list is stored on their system, then it really doesn't matter... your account is your account regardless of the number.
Bring both phones into your carrier's store and ask them to transfer the data for you. Some carriers will charge you a fee some won't. It all depends. They may be able to copy over pictures as well. I had to replace my old phone and they did that for me.

How do you write complex numbers in standard form?

The questions says: Write the complex number (1 - i)^3 in standard form.

How do I do that? And what is ';standard form';?How do you write complex numbers in standard form?
    just expand the number

(1-i)^3=-2-2iHow do you write complex numbers in standard form?
The standard form for complex numbers is a+bi. To write your number in standard form, multiply (1-i)(1-i)(1-i) to get rid of the exponent, then simplify your i terms, keeping in mind that i^2 will equal -1 (so you will always end up with just i, never i^2 or i^3 or something). Then put the terms you have left, which will be a non-imaginary number plus a term including i, into the standard form a+bi. Essentially all they are asking is for you to rearrange the terms, so instead of 5i+2 you have 2+5i.
standard form means writing real and imaginary parts separately

  • How do I register my pit bull puppy not knowing the reg numbers of its parents? Can He be registered without?

No, not with the AKC. His litter would have to be registered by his breeder, then registration papers provided to you.

If you want him registered with the CKC(Continental Kennel Club), go to their website, print out a registration application, take pics of him according to what's needed specified on the application(like a left side, right side and frontal shot)and get 2 witnesses to sign the application saying your dog is indeed a purebred dog, send in the $12 registration fee, and you can register him that way.How do I register my pit bull puppy not knowing the reg numbers of its parents? Can He be registered without?
You cannot register a dog without it's parents' registration details. However, if you would like your dog to compete in AKC events such as obedience, tracking, and agility, you can register your dog in the Purebred Alternative Registry. You need to send in a registry fee, application form, proof that the dog has been spayed or neutered , as well as two pictures of the dog.

However, this registry does not qualify your dog to compete in shows and does not allow its offspring (obviously, since the dog must be spayed or neutered to qualify) to be given full registration. How do I register my pit bull puppy not knowing the reg numbers of its parents? Can He be registered without?
If he's apparently purebred, also he needs to be neutered, you can get him an ILP number thru the AKC. It's like, $55 and you need to send in photos and a reason why you think he's purebred. Then you can show him in obedience, agility, field trials and Junior Showmanship.

You will not be able to get him a registered number for breeding purposes.

    Good luck!
NOPE. If he was really registrable, you would have been given the papers when you got him. Short of contacting the breeder, there is nothing you can do.

ETA: Pamela, the AKC isn't the end all of registries. APBTs have been registered with the UKC since 1898 and the ADBA since 1902.
With any reputable kennel club, you cannot register the puppy unless the parents have been registered. It's the only way to follow the bloodlines correctly.

    Sorry.

As for the Continental Kennel Club, I could register a shoe with that kennel club. Worthless.
You can get limited registration from UKC so that you may participate in shows, but that's it.

You can't get your dog registered in a way that would allow your dog's puppies to be registered or anything like that.
No, but what does it matter, just love your dog %26amp; be good to him, you got screwed and maybe you deserve it, you gave a ';breeder'; your money you could have also gone to a rescue, but in your own way you have saved a little life so make sure you give it a good one
Nope, the UKC will not accept a dog for registration if its parents cannot be proven registered.
No, it doesn't sound legit. Also I agree the Continental Kennel Club is worthless.
Who are you registering this dog with? AKC does not recognize Pitt bulls as a breed. so they are just mutts just like any other mutt
    No.

Most providers will change your number totally free of charge and usually within 24 hours if its due to a case of harassment which this clearly is. I'd contact them about it and ask their advice. I don't know of any cases where they 'trace' the call as this is only usually done when its a criminal case and as far as I know they cant block individual callers but I'm not 100% as to whether you can block withheld numbers it may depend on the handset but providers are usually very good with cases like this.
get in touch with your network provider tell them of the calls and they will monitor it. next time the coward calls tell them to stop or else you will contact the police they will then find out the number and get the person responsible and they will be done for harrasment
you could program your mailbox to say that you dont answer withheld numbers, or just answer and say call back with your number displayed and then hang up.
Some phones let you do that. RTFM

Most phone shops will have them and they are not expensive but very useful. I did find, however, that if your provider is the 3 Network then they tend to be incompatible with other SIM cards so it depends on your network.

There is usually software provided with a phone also whereby you can download all your data onto a computer so that it can be put onto a new SIM from there.

I would suggest that you pop into a Mobile phone store and just ask for details and they should be able to advise you.

    with great difficulty

    good luck!

You need to call 411 (phone repair) because you can't just block numbers by yourself the cell phone company needs to do it for you.
you can call verizon and have them block the # from calling your phone but not from texting... I did it once when my new boyfriend ex kept calling him to voice her disapproval in our new relationship
Yes you should call your phone company but some phones will have a call barring option in the settings menu try putting the number in there
You have to do that threw your service provider. I know it sux I have an ex boyfriend who wouldnt lay off and I couldnt block his tex/calls.

  • How do I eliminating complex numbers from the denominator?

In simplifying the complex expression 2+3i/5i and eliminating the complex number from the denominator, why is the answer positive? 3-2i/5

as opposed to -3+2i/-5? How do I eliminating complex numbers from the denominator?
multiply both numerator and denominator by i and you will get your answerHow do I eliminating complex numbers from the denominator?
Those who answered this question did not study it closely enough, alas.

It does not ask ';How do I eliminate UNREAL numbers from the denominator';, but speaks of COMPLEX numbers. The example given, however, is of an unreal denominator.

In the context of an unreal denominator, both answers are good.

However, suppose we have 1+2i as the denominator, in place of the 5i. If we write ';1-2i';, we have the ';complex conjugate';. We multiply top and bottom by the complex conjugate. Therefore, we have multiplied the expression by 1.

Now the denominator becomes (1+2i)(1-2i), which is 1-4. This is a real number, so there is nothing unreal in the denominator anymore, and the problem is easily solved.

If the result has both the real and the unreal negative, starting with a negative number is unavoidable, and is not wrong.

Vikram P said ';Multiply top and bottom by i';. In the case of an unreal denominator, this is exactly right. 3i on the top becomes 3 i-squared. i-squared is NEGATIVE.
In this case, you can multiply the denominator by any product of a constant and i. The easiest is of course i so multiplying numerator and denominator by i

    [(2+3i)*i]/(5i)*i

    (2+3i)* i = 2i + 3i*i = 2i +3(-1) = -3 + 2i

    5i*i = 5i^2 = -5

    So the fraction is

    (-3 + 2i)/-5 = (3 - 2i)/5

by rationalizing the denominator we eliminate the complex number in the following way

    (2 + 3i)/5i x - 5i /-5i (multiplying and dividing by its conjugate)

= (3-2i)/5 which is the required answer.

It is not (-3+2i)/-5 because this results comes when you multiply and divide with 5i which is not a conjugate of the given denominator.

Technically those are the same, but there's this rule that says you can't start with a negative so just to change the sign of everything.

3-2i is the same as -3+2i

How do i block phone numbers from my mobile phone?

How do i block someones phone number from a Sony Ericsson w595 (The phone make and model might not count :P) Anyways, Is it possible to do this? and if so how do you do it?How do i block phone numbers from my mobile phone?
You would have to ask the mobile phone company to do this for you and it would depend on the company whether they charge for this or not. Easiest is to put the phone number of the person you want to block into your directory with an X and every time the X comes up as person calling, you can ignore it.

What are the first FOUR numbers for on the CVV on a credit card?

There are seven numbers on the signature strip on the back of my card, why do people only want the last three? What are the first FOUR numbers for on the CVV on a credit card?
Because only the last 3 are truly the CVV. It's for security purposes.

Some banks will have you read all the numbers to ensure you have the card with you if it is an added security feature.

If the first four numbers on the back of the card on the signature strip are the last four numbers on your credit card, it's just how the program is designed to print on the card strip and it's not an added security feature. What are the first FOUR numbers for on the CVV on a credit card?
why dont you ask the people that ask you for the last 3 digits why they want them

    For security reasons, I'd guess.
    The 3 are the ';signature code';

The other four, I'd guess are either the first four, last four, or expiration date on your card.
    check digits
They just need the last three digits to verify the entire number. The chances are that if you have the last three digits you have them all, so they don't bother asking for them. Only the bank used the whole number, I think it's for fraud prevention.
The first part of the number is the same as your credit card number, which they already have. The last 3 are your signature numbers, which prove you actually have the card in your hands and aren't just reading off a receipt you found in the trash at the gas station. It's to protect everyone from fraud.

Why did phone numbers in the 1950s have numbers and letters?

In watching movies and tv shows from the 1950s and 60s, i notice people seemed to have phone numbers that consisted of letters and numbers- for example, on a 1960 Twilight Zone episode, someone had a phone number of 'trafalgar 1948'. What does that mean?

When did phone numbers drop the use of letters? Why did phone numbers in the 1950s have numbers and letters?
London, England, is most notable for using the first three letters, then the last four digits. New York, USA, was the first American location to use so-called ';2-5 numbers'; or 2L-5D, two letters and five digits. This became the North American standard as customer-dialled long distance service (Direct Distance Dialing) came into use through the 1950s.

As demand for phone service grew, the supply of assignable phone numbers began to dwindle, and several North American area codes were split to enable reuse of numbers. As the growth accelerated, the decision was made to switch to All-Number Calling (ANC), since there were several unpronounceable letter combinations that were not being used. This allowed more efficient use of the number supply; only two area code splits were necessary between 1962 and 1981. All-Number Calling was phased in slowly from 1958. Most areas had adopted it fully by the late 1960s, though it did not become universal until the 1980s.

The standard format for displaying telephone numbers that used exchange names was to capitalize the first few letters if they were dialed, e.g.,

MUrray Hill 5-9975 (one of the Ricardos' numbers on I Love Lucy - note that the H in Hill, although not dialed, is still capitalized)Why did phone numbers in the 1950s have numbers and letters?
The letters date back from earlier times when phone service was growing such that there needed to be several exchanges in the larger cities; each exchange was given a name. In New York, there were exchanges such as Pennsylvania and Murray Hill, which were abbreviated PEN and MUR. With continued growth, the last letter was changed to a digit (as PE6 and MU7), and additional digits were added as well. With the growth of direct distance dialing, the system became unwieldy: if you called New York 731-1234, should that show on your bill as a PEnnsylvania exchange, or something else? So the letter business was scrapped, but lingers on in such things as the title of the song ';PEnnsylvania 6-5000';.
    Hi

I think there are two answers to your question, depending on the context.

Firstly, on your phone's keypad you will see that there are letters on some of the number keys. These are sometimes used to make phone numbers easier to remember - so ';1-800-LIONS'; would be dialed as 180054667. I guess you probably are already aware of this so apologies if I'm trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs - however this practice isn't common outside north america and I don't know where you're from so...

Secondly, historically long-distance calls had to be placed through the operator, so while you might be able to dial a local 3 or 4 digit number from your telephone, calling to a different exchange required you to give the name of that exchange to the operator, followed by the number - so ';Trafalgar 1948'; is number 1948 on the Trafalger exchange. My very first telephone number was ';Alstonefield 343';.

The ability to dial long distance directly was introduced between the 50s and 70s in North America (where it is called Direct Distance Dialing) and in the UK (where it has the delightful acronym STD or Subscriber Trunk Dialing).
I don't see any of the answers that address the primary reason that the original phone numbers had letters. If I remember correctly, and revealing my age, originally there was no such thing as dialing the phone -- you picked up the phone, got the operator, and told her the number you wanted, and she would connect you. The numbers were divided into exchanges, and each exchange had a name, such as Essex or, in the question, Trafalgar. You would ask the operator for Trafalgar 3569, for example, and as there got to be more exchanges, it would be Trafalgar 8-3569. As the technology advanced, people started to be able to dial directly, using the first two letters of the exchange and the last five numbers. And eventually the exchanges were phased out, but the letters on the dial remained, and are now used primarily for clever numbers to dial.

But the reason there were at one time two letters was that they were short for the name of the exchange that you previously would have had to tell the operator before there was such a thing as direct dialing.
It wasn't just in the 1950s -- it was since the telephone was invented. It made it easier to remember numbers. The exchange (the first three numbers) was a geographical reference. In the 1960s, I lived in Minneapolis near Minnehaha Parkway. All the phones in the area had PS (for Parkway) as the disignator.

The old song Pennsylvania Six Five Thousand was the phone number for the Pensylvania Hotel in NYC.
When I first moved to the city I live in now I was 8 years old. That was in the 1960's. The first three numbers of the exchange were 878. Older people referred to it as TR8-xxxx. Younger people just said 878-xxxx. T references the 8 and R references the 7. T and R are not the first letters in the name of the city, county of anything else I could then or can now think of. When I asked back then, no one ever had a real answer.

Prior to that, I had spent some months living with my grandfather in a very rural area of W.Va. where they had ';party lines';. For those of you who don't know what a party line is, 3 or 4 families would be on the same phone line which worked sort of line a modern day home extension. Each family had their own number of rings to identify if they were being called. You could pick up the phone and listen to another person's conversation, although that was considered inappropriate. If you wanted to use the phone, you just picked it up to see if anyone else was on it. If they were, you hung up and tried later. If it was an emergency, you asked them, politely, to let you use the phone. Sometimes you would know the person on another line, sometimes not. Obviously, people didn't usually spend a long time on the phone back then!
I will admit it - I am old enough to remember this.

When certain switching equipment was installed at the phone company, direct dialing was made possible, no more need to call the local operator to dial the call. In order for users to remember the city exchanges, they were given names, the letters corresponded to the letters on the telephone dials. In our town it was COlonial3 = 263-.
It is the same as this year isn't it?
    God bless Wikipedia:

Phone numbers were not usually strictly numeric until the 1950s. From the 1920s until then, most urban areas had ';exchanges'; of two letters, followed by numbers. In the UK, however, exchanges in the major cities were represented by three letters followed by four numbers; the letters usually represented the name of the exchange area (e.g. MAYfair, WATerloo), or something memorable about the locality (e.g. POPesgrove - an area where Alexander Pope once lived). This was considered easier to remember, although in London in the later part of this period it required the memorization of 7 characters (roughly the same number of characters as is usual for local calling in 2006). A word would represent the first two digits to be dialed, for example ';TWinbrook'; for ';89'; ; ';BYwater'; for ';29';; 736-5000 was ';PEnnsylvania - 6- 5 thousand';. UK numbers had no letters at all except for those in the Director areas, where the first three of the seven digits were assigned letters, and written ';ABBey 1234'; or ';WHItehall 1212';, for example. A lack of pronounceable words, and the fact that most telephones world-wide have no letters on anyway, have led to the abandonment of letter usage in directory numbers except for publicity purposes.
In Britain, the first three letters were the code for an ';exchange'; that could handle 10,000 phone lines. This was a local purpose-built building or a large converted office. We lived in Glasgow, with the exchange code ';DOUglas'; because the building was in Douglas Street, about half a mile away. Of course the dial had 1 = ABC, 2 = DEF etcetera so it was just the same as dialling 268, but the Post Office thought the three-letter prefix would be easier for everybody to remember.
The word designated the area of the call. So that call would probably have been in the Trafalgar Square area, phone number 1948.

I'm not sure how it worked in the UK, but in the US they later (I think it was sometime in the 60s) abbreviated the location word to a three-letter code. But instead of using the letters they started using the corresponding numbers from the dial. So if Trafalgar was in the US it might have been abbreviated to TRF and then that phone number would have become 873-1948.
